    About

George Faithful studied at Wake Forest University, the Université de Nantes, the Humboldt-Universtität zu Berlin, and Covenant Theological Seminary, before completing his Ph.D. in historical theology and certificate in clinical healthcare ethics at Saint Louis University. His first book, Mothering the Fatherland (Oxford, 2014), analyzes the interrelationship of religious, national, and gender identities in the Ecumenical Sisterhood of Mary. Analyzing those same topics in the writings of 16th-century Spanish mystic Juan de la Cruz, along with race, ethnicity, sexuality, and species, his second book will be the Dark Nights of Grey Souls: A Theology of Margins & In-Betweens in St. John of the Cross (under contract with Fortress Press).
