    About

Dr. Josephine Rabb is a licensed psychotherapist, researcher, and Assistant Professor at Dominican University of California, where she is a full-time, tenure-track faculty member teaching in the graduate Counseling Psychology program and serving on the Institutional Review Board.

She holds licenses in California as a Marriage & Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor, providing in-person services in Marin and Napa Counties, as well as teletherapy throughout California, New York, Massachusetts, and Florida. Dr. Rabb earned her PsyD in Human & Organizational Psychology from Touro University and her Master’s Degree from Dominican University, where she now proudly teaches 5 classes.

In her clinical work, Dr. Rabb is known for building strong therapeutic connections to help clients shift longstanding patterns, with specialties in adult ADHD, trauma therapy using EMDR, and pioneering Parental Identity Discovery™, a curriculum developed to support individuals experiencing Misattributed Parentage Experiences (MPE). Trained in EMDR by founder Francine Shapiro, she also brings expertise in working with first responders facing PTSD, trauma, and relational problems. Dr. Rabb is often accompanied in the therapy room by her co-therapist and family pet, Nessie, a loveable Doberman

As a researcher, Dr. Rabb explores the complex psychological and relational impacts of MPEs, with particular interest in identity formation, family dynamics, and the personal and systemic consequences of surprise DNA revelations. She integrates this scholarship into both her clinical practice and her teaching, advancing awareness and therapeutic approaches by speaking at national and international conferences.

Her passion for supporting the MPE community began in 2016 after her own DNA discovery through 23andMe, inspiring her to co-create Sex, Lies & The Truth, a podcast highlighting personal stories of DNA revelations, and to write Finding Family, a Psychology Today blog exploring the emotional, relational, and identity challenges of MPEs. As a result of this discovery, Dr. Rabb legally changed her name from Jodi Klugman-Rabb to Josephine Rabb, making a preferred nickname official.

A Bay Area native, Dr. Rabb enjoys spending time outdoors, deep in a good book, and exploring the world with her husband. Nearing empty nesting, having raised 2 kids in her hometown, when not teaching, reading, or working with clients, she can be found lounging in hammocks, searching for the perfect donut, or daydreaming about a future move to Scotland.
