About

Judy Halebsky is the author of two collections of poetry, Tree Line and Sky=Empty, both published by New Issues Poetry & Prose. Fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the Millay Colony, and the Vermont Studio Center have supported her creative writing. On a fellowship from the Japanese Ministry of Education (MEXT) she trained Japanese literature at Hosei University in Tokyo for three years. Her article on the cultural translation of Japanese Noh theatre won the Emerging Scholar Award from the Association for Asian Performance. She has published articles and book reviews in the Asian Theatre Journal, Theatre Research in Canada, and Canadian Literature, among others. In 2012, she received a Graves Award for Outstanding Teaching in the Humanities. She holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from the University of California, Davis and an M.F.A. in English & Creative Writing from Mills College.
