    About

    Katherine Lewis, Ph.D., is Associate Professor and Co-Chair of the Education Department at Dominican University of California. She teaches in Education Studies, preliminary credential, and the Master of Science programs. Prior to completing a Ph.D. in Educational and Community Leadership (formerly School Improvement) from Texas State University, Katherine was an elementary teacher for nine years in Texas, Colorado, and Southern California; she taught within rural, Title I, International Baccalaureate, and full inclusion/SWIFT schools. Katherine's research centers on analyzing the sociocultural, political, and historical aspects of schooling. Some of her work is published in the Journal of Educational Administration and History, the Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, and in the Equity and Higher Education: Theory, Policy, & Praxis book series. Katherine is interested in exploring issues related to equity and access in schools, especially education leaders' roles in shaping policies, structures, and practices that sustain inclusive school climates. Her most recent project is a duoethnographic inquiry exploring the concept of "pedagogies of with-ness," which prioritizes student engagement and voice in higher education.
