The Effects of Family Violence on Family Systems: From Ideology to Inclusion

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentationpeer-review

Abstract

This presentation will examine the effects of domestic violence and excessive conflict on the nuclear and generational family system. Beginning with the perpetrator and victim, a multi-generational lens will be used to demonstrate the effects of violence on developmental life cycles for ancestral and future generations, and the effects on relationships and participation in society. Relevant research will highlight the importance of addressing a family system rather than an individual. Examples of Cognitive-Behavioral interventions will be given through case presentation.
